TECHNICAL COMMITTEE NEWSLETTER N0 3 2004
Proposals withdrawn (Rules Congress 2004)
The Finnish Powerlifting Federation have
informed the T.C. that they will withdraw their proposals to Rules Congress
2004.
These refer to : GENERAL RULES OF POWERLIFTING
Rule 7
Each Nation must submit a team roster giving the
name of each lifter, body weight category the best result in each
discipline and total achieved at National Championships
or International Level Contests during the
previous twelve months.
The date and title of the National
Championship or International Contest in which the
total was achieved must also be stated.
And to : WEIGHING IN Rule 6
A lifter who fails to make the body
weight as entered on the final entry form, is exluded from the actual
competition.
The question regarding a change to body weight
limits and the depletion of classes was discussed/debated by delegates at a
round table meeting following the IPF 2003 Congress. Little or no
enthusiasm for change was forthcoming, therefore, Powerlifting Australia and
the Swedish Powerlifting Federation will leave their proposals in respect of
this subject in abatement.

will be discussed by the Executive Committee at their first full meeting of
the year to be held in conjunction with the World Open Women's Competition

It relates to the size of some manufacturers "Emblems"
on non -supportive suits and T.Shirts which may not need to be licensed or

Championships Secretary Gaston Parage has made space on the Nomination's
Form for the insertion of weight categories in which nominated referees are

2003 Men's Open ( T.V. Coverage )
The much awaited screening of highlights from
the 2003 Men's Open took place on Friday 13th February.
Generally, Euro Sport portrayed our sport in "
good light " .
The commentary was fairly accurate, and mention
was made of the strict refereeing in the IPF.
As only third round attempts were shown, it was
inevitable that there would be many failed lifts.
With the live coverage by Danish T.V. also, our
premier event was given a welcome " airing ".
