18th IPF WORLD BENCH PRESS CHAMPIONSHIPS
To be held in Thisted, Denmark on May 29th /to June 1st, 2007
The Two Hands Bench Press
In two
weeks time there will be 250+ powerlifters arriving in Thisted, Denmark for the
18th IPF Women’s/Men’s World Open Bench Press Championships,
organised by the Thisted Vaegttraenings Forening, the Danish Powerlifting
Federation and the International Powerlifting Federation.
The T.V.F. has an experienced Committee working on this Championship having organized the 1999 Women’s Worlds, Nordic Championships, European Union Cup and many national Championships.
The 100 women and 150 men will be travelling from 35 countries to contest the most popular of the three power lifts in the IPF, the Two Hands Bench Press at the venue, which is the Thyhallen, a large Sports Centre in Thisted.
This event has attracted the strongest of the strong and on the final day of lifting, when the Superheavies are on platform, there will be many bench presses over the 300kg mark and with 23 nominations in this class alone, the World Bench Press record of 345.5kg is expected to be broken.
With such a high number of entries in the 19 bodyweight classes:-
- In
the Women’s Championships, the 9 bodyweight classes start at 48kg right up to
the 90+kg
- In the Men’s Championships, the 10 bodyweight classes range from
56kg to +125kg )
we can expect to see a thrilling three days of powerful benchpressing in this competition as there will be many exciting battles for the World titles from the top powerlifters in the IPF.

Later on in the year we can look forward to the next IPF World Open Powerlifting Championships where the lifters compete for World titles on all three disciplines, the Squat, Bench Press and the Dead Lift.
This week long Championships will be held in Soelden, Austria from the 14th to 20th October, 2007
