21-SEP-2008 | Bench Shirt ( Super Katana ) Titan Support Systems, Inc. submitted a shirt in 2004 for IPF Approval which the Technical Committee at the time showed some concern with the neckline i.e. somewhat thicker than usual but still within the guidlines as laid down within the Technical Rules. Since this time, new committee members have approved shirts from another manufacturer with a neckline comparable to that of Titan's particular model. It would appear totally unfair to have rejected that of Titan while later approving that of a competitor. It must be stressed that this is not a new shirt as such and therefore does not violate the moratorium. |

15-AUG-2008 | IPF/POWERLIFTING The International Powerlifting Federation (IPF) Executive today announced it's ratification of the 2009 World Anti-Doping Code & a set of Anti-Doping Rules based on the Code. The new IPF Anti-Doping Rules were derived in conjunction with the World Anti-Doping Agency & have been approved by that body as consistent with the WADA Code. The IPF has long been at the forefront of the war on drugs in sport. By measures such as a vigorous out-of-competition testing programme, target testing & athlete education the IPF has turned around the doping issue in its sport. The new Code & Rules will further strengthen the IPF's hand in dealing with doping. Measures such as more clearly defining the Whereabouts criteria & mandatory provisional suspensions will tighten detection & deterrence, whilst the streamlining of Therapeutic Use Exemptions will allow for a greater focus of resources on front-line anti-doping activities. Flexible sanctions, taking into account all the features of particular cases, will promote fairness & credibility for the IPF’s anti-doping system. The 2009 IPF Anti-Doping Rules will take effect on 1st January next. Robert Wilks, Chair Anti-Doping Commission |

21-DEC-2007 | Dear Ladies and Gentlemen, We have recognized that there are some misinterpretations regarding establishing World or Regional records on National Championships. To give you an easy guide, when the IPF is accepting World an Regional records, here the list of National Championships (Powerlifting and BenchPress) were the IPF Record Registrar will accept World and Regional records: National Championships for Men National Championships for Women or National Championships for Men & Women (combined) National Championships for Sub-Juniors National Championships for Juniors or National Championships for Sub-Juniors & Juniors (combined) National Championships for Masters Men National Championships for Masters Women or National Championships for Masters Men & Women (combined). 16-APR-2007 | Dear Sports colleagues, As agreed at the IPF-Congress in Stavanger / Norway 2006 we have build up a Lifters Commission and a Coach Commission. The member nations have sent their member proposals to me. After completing the list the proposed commission members have selected within their group the speaker. If you have ideas, questions, strategic visions, how to improve and develop our sport, please do not hesitate and contact the members of the Lifters Commission and Coach Commission. They will discuss your suggestions and present a conclusion to the IPF-Executive and the IPF-Committees. These both commissions are an improvement for our sport and please use the opportunity to contact the members. You can also contact all other members of the Committees, when you have an idea etc. Thank you very much for your support. Best wishes Detlev Albrings IPF General Secretary |

28-FEB-2007 | "World Police & Fire Games, Adelaide Australia March 2007. All IPF nations, lifters & officials should note this is not an IPF run or sanctioned event. The IPF has been advised that athletes or officials under suspension will be allowed to participate in the Powerlifting events at the Games. The Powerlifting events have been called "Bench Press" & "Push Pull". Any IPF lifter or official taking part in these Games thus runs the risk of contravening the IPF rules regarding participation in non-sanctioned events & against suspended lifters or officials. The IPF strongly advises lifters & officials to not participate in these Games". |
25-FEB-2007 | Special sponsorship/award of ER Equipment Denmark Erik Rasmussen informed us that ER Equipment Denmark gives each Best Women & Men Team (together) at the World Bench Press Championships in Thisted / Denmark and the Men’s and Women’s World Championships in Soelden / Austria a Squat & Benchpress rack with safety stands. This is a very generous sponsorship/award of ER Equipment and the IPF Executive appreciates this idea. To win this attractive award I call the member nations to send a complete Women and Men team to the World Championships. Detlev Albrings / IPF General Secretary |

25-FEB-2006 | FROM THE IPF TECHNICAL COMMITTEE Dear All, In a recent issue of Powerlifting USA Magazine, a full page advertisement by one of our leading licensees, illustrates and describes A ( POWER - RATCHET BELT ). This type of fastening was rejected by both the Technical Committee and Executive Committee approximately two and a half years ago, on the grounds that it was considered unsafe/dangerous to the lifter should an emergency arise and would need to be removed quickly. Therefore, it must be recognised that ( POWER - RATCHET BELT ) is illegal for use in IPF Competition. John Stephenson Chairman |
